Picsart Teams Up with Getty Images for Custom AI Model

Picsart, a photo-editing platform backed by SoftBank, revealed on Thursday its collaboration with Getty Images to create a custom AI model. This partnership aims to deliver responsible AI-generated imagery to its 150 million users, including creators, marketers, and small businesses.

The AI model will be developed from the ground up, leveraging exclusively Getty Images’ licensed creative content for training. This initiative will allow Picsart subscribers to generate unique images with full commercial rights. Users can further enhance or personalize these assets using Picsart’s extensive editing tools.

Ensuring Safe and Licensed AI Imagery

With increasing concerns over AI-generated images and copyright issues, Picsart’s approach to using licensed content aims to provide a secure and reliable AI creative tool for its users. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to responsible AI usage.

The model, being developed by Picsart’s AI lab, PAIR, will be accessible through the company’s API services. Picsart CEO and founder Hovhannes Avoyan expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Picsart offers endless customization, content, and editing tools for everything from social media ads to website graphics, and this partnership will enable commercially usable AI-generated imagery from a world-class brand. We are thrilled to partner with Getty Images, the most prestigious commercial library out there, to bring this to market.”

Launch and Additional Integrations

Picsart plans to launch the new AI model later this year. In addition to this development, the company will integrate Getty Images video content into its platform, making it available to Picsart Plus members.

Getty Images has previously collaborated with other startups focused on responsible AI imagery, including Bria and Runway. This latest partnership with Picsart further extends Getty Images’ commitment to fostering ethical AI applications in the creative industry.
