HCLTech Collaborates with IBM to Establish Generative AI Center of Excellence

Global technology giants HCLTech and IBM have announced a strategic collaboration to create a Generative AI Center of Excellence (GenAI CoE) based on IBM’s Watson AI and data platform. This initiative aims to enhance AI adoption and skill development across various enterprises.

The GenAI CoE will be integrated into HCLTech’s AI and Cloud Native Labs located in Noida, London, New Jersey, and Santa Clara in the US. The center will help enterprises modernize applications, develop ITSM use cases, reduce coding complexity, and improve IBM watsonx skills.

Objectives and Goals

Alan Flower, Executive Vice President and Global Head of AI & Cloud Native Labs at HCLTech, highlighted the initiative’s objectives:

“This expansion of our work with IBM will facilitate rapid exploration of AI’s potential as we create highly differentiated HCLTech offerings using the latest IBM technology. We plan to embed watsonx in HCLTech AI Force with GenAI-powered solutions to support code modernization.”

Flower also emphasized the goal of accelerating GenAI adoption through AI facilitated by watsonx and enhancing digital skills for enterprise productivity through watsonx Orchestrate.

Training and Skill Development

As part of the collaboration, HCLTech aims to train 10,000 engineers and architects in IBM’s innovative AI technologies, specifically focusing on the watsonx platform. The adaptive portfolio, CloudSMART for IBM, is expected to aid businesses in continuous innovation through advanced technologies and insights.

Stephen Smith, General Manager of Service Partners in the IBM Ecosystem, expressed the significance of responsible GenAI solutions:

“Driving adoption of responsible GenAI solutions is an important component of our collaboration with service partners like HCLTech. Through this CoE, we plan to empower our joint clients to rapidly explore, experiment, and engineer generative AI solutions with watsonx designed to meet their current business challenges.”

The CoE will offer clients access to comprehensive education and training resources covering diverse AI technologies, including:

  • watsonx.ai: For AI model development and deployment.
  • watsonx.data: For data management and analytics.
  • watsonx.governance: For ensuring responsible and compliant AI use.
  • watsonx Code Assistants: For aiding in code development and modernization.
  • watsonx Orchestrate: For enhancing operational efficiency and productivity.
  • watsonx Assistant: For building and deploying intelligent assistants.
