Brave is set to introduce its AI assistant on iPhone and iPad devices

Brave

Brave has made waves yet again, this time by extending its AI assistant, Leo, to iPhone and iPad users, marking a significant expansion of its capabilities. Leo, already a staple on Android and desktop platforms, offers a plethora of functionalities aimed at streamlining user experiences, including answering questions, summarizing content, content creation, and more.

Brave Improved Leo For iOS Users

The latest iOS rollout introduces a groundbreaking feature: voice-to-text capability. Unlike its Android counterpart, iOS users can now seamlessly convert spoken words into text, eliminating the need for manual typing when interacting with Leo. This enhancement underscores Brave’s commitment to enhancing user interaction with its AI assistant.

Leo’s repertoire extends beyond basic tasks, boasting the ability to summarize pages or videos, provide insights on content, generate comprehensive reports, translate or rewrite content, transcribe audio or video content, and even write code. By integrating an AI assistant directly into its browser, Brave aims to provide users with an all-encompassing solution, reducing reliance on external services like ChatGPT.

An exciting addition to Leo’s arsenal is its access to advanced language models (LLMs) such as Mixtral 8x7B, Anthropic’s Claude Instant, and Meta’s Llama 2 13B. While Mixtral 8x7B serves as the default LLM for Leo, users have the flexibility to choose alternative models or upgrade to Leo Premium, offering higher rate limits for a monthly subscription of $14.99.

Brave’s venture into AI assistance isn’t solitary, with competitor Opera launching its own AI assistant named Aria last year. Developed in collaboration with OpenAI, Aria presents a chatbot-like interface for seamless question-and-answer interactions, akin to Brave’s Leo.

For iOS users eager to explore Leo’s capabilities, access is as simple as updating to version 1.63 of the Brave browser and initiating the assistant by typing queries into the address bar and selecting “Ask Leo.” Notably, Leo remains an opt-in feature, ensuring users have control over their browsing experience and can disable the assistant via the app’s settings if desired.
